Therapeutic Approach

I create a space where children feel seen, heard, and deeply respected. My approach is warm, playful, and child-centered, allowing each child to lead in ways that feel safe and empowering. I draw from a wide range of evidence-based and creative modalities to meet the unique needs of each child and family I work with.

These include:

  • Play Therapy – helping children explore and process through imaginative play
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – supporting children in reframing unhelpful thoughts and building new skills
  • Art Therapy – using drawing and visual expression to support healing and emotional regulation
  • Bibliotherapy – using books and stories to build connection, empathy, and emotional understanding
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy – identifying small, manageable steps to achieve goals
  • Person-Centered Therapy – empowering older children to take ownership of their growth

Every child is different. My role is to help them discover the tools and strategies that work best for who they are, while offering consistent support to caregivers along the way.

Background

I’m a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) with over seven years of experience as a school counselor in Washington, DC. In that role, I supported students with emotional regulation, school refusal, and crisis recovery, while also building long-term strategies for thriving at school and home. I’ve developed individualized support plans for neurodivergent children and worked closely with families navigating diagnoses, special education, and advocacy.

I earned my master’s degree in counseling from Trinity Washington University and hold certifications in autism-informed care, school counseling, and grief and loss through the Wendt Center. I’m also trained in school refusal intervention.

Outside of work, I enjoy walking with my dogs through Rock Creek Park, doing yoga, reading, and cheering on Michigan football with my husband.
