Therapeutic Approach
I work best with children, adolescents, and families navigating anxiety, grief, low self-esteem, or difficult peer dynamics. My therapy style is high-energy and heart-forward — rooted in empathy, authenticity, and a deep respect for each client’s unique story. I create a safe, supportive space where clients of all ages feel seen, heard, and empowered to grow.
For individual work, I integrate trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), solution-focused therapy, and person-centered techniques to help kids and teens build emotional regulation skills, process challenging experiences, and reconnect with their inner strengths. My approach is collaborative and encouraging, often infused with laughter and curiosity to help lower the temperature on life’s big emotions.
With younger clients, I use play therapy and creative expression to meet them where they are — offering structure, warmth, and a judgment-free space to explore their feelings. My goal is to help children and teens feel more confident, in control, and connected, while supporting families in fostering lasting, meaningful change.
Background
For the past four years, I’ve worked as a clinician in DC public charter schools, supporting children and teens through school-related challenges, mental health concerns, and identity development. Before that, I spent several years as an academic counselor and basketball coach at St. John’s College High School, and I’ve coached basketball on and off for over 15 years. That experience gives me a unique understanding of how sports, mentorship, and emotional development intersect, especially for adolescents navigating school, stress, and self-worth.
Before entering clinical work, I was a recruiter in the nonprofit sector. Outside the therapy room, I recharge by spending time with my wife, playing music, and staying active — on the court, in the ocean, or wherever there’s movement and joy.
