Modalities

Psychodynamic, relational, trauma-informed, strengths-based, and family systems approaches — used to help clients slow down, notice patterns, and make connections between their thoughts, feelings, relationships, and experiences. With adolescents and families, Mac also pays close attention to the larger family system, supporting communication and connection.

Therapeutic Approach

“My approach is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed. I want therapy to feel like a space where you can be yourself, feel understood, and talk through what’s really going on. Together, we’ll slow things down, notice patterns, and make sense of the relationships, stories, and pressures that shape how you move through the world. I also believe that finding a therapist who feels like the right fit matters — and that connection can be an important part of healing.” Teammates describe Mac as deeply empathetic, non-judgmental, attuned, and affirming.

Background

Before training as a therapist, Mac worked as a middle and high school counselor at a public charter school in DC, supporting students through school-related challenges, mental health concerns, and identity development. Earlier in her career she worked as an adolescent sexual and reproductive health educator and trainer, and before that as a high school teacher, sports coach, and college counselor — work that shaped her belief that young people deserve honest, affirming support as they grow into themselves.

Personal Note

When she’s not in session, Mac recharges with long bike rides through Rock Creek Park, hosting friends for dinner parties, exploring new places, and spending time with her family.
