Grief and Loss

Grief and loss is complex. It comes in two forms—primary and secondary. Primary loss is one that happens to you or in your close circle while secondary loss is repeatedly hearing or watching about loss all around you like we have been during the current pandemic.

Grief can descend months or even years after a significant loss. Loss may not even be about the loss of a person, but perhaps a home, job, or other loss is causing some heaviness.

Despite the complexities of loss, once you are feeling that distracted sinking feeling, you know you are in it. Therapy can help you define what a specific loss means to you, how to talk about it to get the support you need from friends/family, and care for yourself as it eases.
